removing rear head-rests how to

Featured Replies

Cant figure out for the life of me how to get the rear headrests out of the car...also dont want to force it and cause any damage.

Can anyone clearly explain how its done (I gather with a small screwdriver) but some laymans words and perhaps a pic of two would be really handy.

Son is now in a high-back booster, has grown so have had to extend the back and the bloody headrest is verging on getting in the way hence the post.

Raise head rest to highest position by pressing in button on right hand side of the head rest post. Next use your car key blade (or screwdriver - if you have Kessy) insert into the slot on the left hand side post (equivalent location to button position on right hand post) and apply a little pressure against the sprung locking mechanism - do this with one hand. At the same time depress the button on the right hand side and lift the headrest free.

Ah brilliant will give that a go thanks Black_Sheep. Is the key whats supposed to be used then (much like switching on the rear child locks)?

I had to push the material down slightly (below the plastic circular disc) to reveal the bit that needed pushing.

Next use your car key blade (or screwdriver - if you have Kessy)

Cars with KESSY still have the key blade. ;)

It is somewhat ironic that the one and only time I have seen or coded a car with Kessy was just yesterday - but I guess it makes sense for emergency door locks.
