Lowest wear rate on a set of brakepads ever...........?

Recommended Posts

2005 Octavia Wagon 2.0L/16v TDI (103 kW), 6-speed manual transmission: 150,500 km (93,536 mi), about to replace all pads for the first time. They still have 1.5...2 mm friction material, just at the wear limit as published in Haynes.

The thrilling part is establishing the right part #, since SKODA have played a lot with different brake products (ATE, BOSCH, LUCAS-TRW...) and rotor diameters varying by few mm (e.g. 280, 288). The PR-codes are of little help because (in my case at least) the rear set is well-defined (1KF), but the front is not.

And experts say silicon grease should be used on slide pins.

Would appreciate some hands-on experience/feedback on PR-codes & part # - the rest is mostly routine.

Cheers from Italy.
