Hole/Crack in oil filter housing?

Featured Replies

Following the bad news of my turbo exploding yesterday i started draining the oil and when i removed the filter i found a big hole/crack in the housing at the bottom but the weird thing is it doesnt feel jagged its all smoothed off like its meant to be there but its mis shaping and odd. I'll attach the photo what do you guys think is it meant to be there? Cheerspost-120376-0-33121500-1429532475_thumb.jpgpost-120376-0-33121500-1429532475_thumb.jpg

I'd say certainly not meant to be there.  A void in the casting that should have caused that casting to be rejected.  If it doesn't go right through to the outside, it won't really be doing any harm though.
