rear wiper problems

Featured Replies

Hi! Problem is that about a month ago my rear wiper stopped on the middle of the window and started working again the day after. Now about a week ago it happened again and it doesnt start working again, so after some research in this forum i realized that i need to buy a new wiper motor, cause the symptoms are the same as everyone elses. So i bought a second and hand motor (with 90 days guarantee) and the seller told me that he just tested it and it worked, but it didnt work in my car. The question is, do i have anything else to check before i take the motor back? Dont wanna look like a fool when i take it back, saying it doesnt work and the problem is in my car. The fuse is fine and wires are fine so i have no idea what else could be the problem than the motor itself. Hope you understand the problem, my english is not so good :)

Cheers!

Some thoughts:

Have you tried it off the car?  If so, then the motor may be OK.

OTOH, the motor shaft or gearbox lubricant could have dried out and may be sticking (some spray lubricant might help, but the motor won't last long anyway if that is the problem.

Also check the wiring to see if you are getting 12V to the motor and that there is an earth to the motor when the wiper switch is put to "ON".

PS: had mine stick once or twice in the winter when the blade froze to the screen, but I doubt that is the problem at this time of year!

Thanks for the advice, wiring is fine, tested it and everything is like it should be.
