That flipping Cup Holder

Featured Replies

I came out to the car this morning and the cup holder (which I never use due to it's utterly stupid location) has put itself into the 'raised' position overnight and if I try and put it back down it won't clip back into position, it just comes straight back up again.

Does anyone know how the mechanism works and is this likely to be an easy fix or is this a 'pull half the car apart' type job? Ideally it would be nice to replace it with another cubby tray or something but i'm guessing that's not an option - tempted to just superglue the damn thing!

Glue it! it really is the worst cup holder ever in a car.

Mine has broken in the up position too, utterly useless. Mine is covered to some degree by the armrest, however I now keep it stocked up with those cup sized packs of chewing gum, sorted lol

There's a spring inside which if removed, stops it popping up

tbh it makes it work better without spring it too - you can clamp it down on the bottle etc

But the location as stated is crap

I took mine out and replaced it with a little tray as found in VRS's etc
