NOISE WHEN IGNITION ON

Featured Replies

Greetings Octavia II Owners.

I need help with my Octavia II (P.Y. 2007, 59 KW, with 1.4 petrol + LPG installed later).

When the ignition key is ON (the car is not even started), a strange and louder noise appears from the front passenger side (like some plastic part is touching somewhere). It seems like it comes from the storage compartment (case) of the front passenger's side  OR the backside of it, lasts for about 10-15 seconds and disappears. It may appear again occassionally soon after the beginning of the driving but disappears again and does not appear during the driving anymore.

Out of Your experience, could this be caused by some engine part or some plastics around the front right wheel.

Anyone please advise?!

Could it be something to do with the heater fan? That's behind the dash on the passenger side.

YES, The sound seems to be like from a fan. Since I have bought the car just recently I have not any previous experience.

How do I approach to this fan? I think it must be by removing the torx screws from inside the storage compartment (case).

Please advice further. Thanx !

First off take the cover off below the glove box (Above passenger feet), this pulls off after removing two thumb screws. Above this you will find the fan unit and cabin filter. The cabin filter is behind a long cover which slides to one side and removes, I would suggest bey cleaning this out for a start, could be full of dead leaves and stuff.

Could be the solution, is the fan positioned very close to the filter? I intend to first clean the filter from stuff (possibly change it if very dirty), then check the fan / propeller itself...

I'll check up and send You feedback...Thanks, mate!

Did everything as suggested, cleaned the cabin - air filter from stuff inside (it was kinda' dirty), still nothing changed and continues to make this noise when ignition is ON (although the cooling is on 0 - OFF). It seems to me that the round covered part on the attached picture should be the fan, but I'm not sure how I can open it in order to check of the propeller itself...Please advise on this!

Is it also possible that the cause could be some relay? Is the relay box placed near/ behind the glovebox somewhere?
