Help with lost key

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I am new to the forum I am looking for some help with a 13 plate skoda superb. A key was recently lost for the car and I am concerned about theft. Is there a way to programme a new key but also delete the old one? I have been looking on ebay and have seen a few blanks with the transponder parts in it but is it easy enough to programme?

Hi Dan,

on to ask if anyone knew a way round this as I now have to manually unlock the car and put the key in the ignition in order to stop the alarm going off even if I only want something from the boot.   Paying several hundred pounds to overcome this inconvenience on an old car hurts!

I came on with a query about keys.  My Octavia is 10 years old and the keys will no longer remotely unlock the car.

Presumably because you have to press twice to unlock which means the contact wears at twice the rate of the locking contact which you press once..

I have asked at my garage and they say that the whole system has to be re-set with new codes and new keys.

I came

I would presume that you would have to do the same.  I am a bit surprised that no one on here has answered your question as they are normally very helpful.

Regards,

Anthony

I know when I lost me dads vw key I was looking on ebay  people selling blanks etc but its getting them programmed, went to locksmiths who do reprogramming.

I ended up at dealer because there can be issues other wise.

it cost £200  omg  cars a 1999 Passat but still drives like a new car, the snobby guy said ah well its a old key but £200 probably wearing anyway.

they give me new keys and changed my old key to new programme, and said if I found lost key they would reprogramme that free of charge,

its expensive but if you were then to lose only key its mega money, it also saves the worry incase someone finds your key and can be linked to your car.

Speak to actionman39 in the group buys section, he has been used by many people on here and comes well recommended.

In my octavia II, I made 3 new keys for my car using used 434mhz electronics from old keys at around £12 each, 3 virgin transponders for £3 each 3 new cases at £6 each and got the blank blades cut at timpsons £5 each. I had to buy a cable off ebay to get my skc from clocks to retrofit a maxidot cluster anyway.once you have that it's pretty straightforward. Not sure how it works on specific cars but I had no issues at all. Ross tech has a guide on immobiliser key matching, all very easy once you have the skc.

here to answer questions if anyone needs any help advice
