Whole wing mirror replacement

Featured Replies

Hello.

Someone has hit my drivers side wing mirror, pretty hard as its essentialy destroyed - glass, indicator, cover all broken and the metal hinge apears to be be broken too as it looks snapped and was hanging off.

I'm trying to avoid claiming on the insurance but Skoda are quoting around £450 for a painted replacement. Searching online is not yeilding much choice to source one myself. Ive tried wingmirrorman but they only seem to sell older shape mirrors.

I also cant see how to remove the exisitng one. It looks like the whole door card has to come off before I can remove the little triangle of vented plastic on the inside of the mirror?

Feeling very fed up and frustrated with this. Any help would be appriciated :)

Firstly, OUCH. £450 wow. Stealers eh!

If it's your mkII then scrapyards including parts online.

If your mkIII then you may be lucky second hand. Hopefully someone has more ideas than me as I'm sure you have already thought of scrapyard.

It's the mkII. officially the wife's car.

£450!! Unless you have auto dimming that is ridiculous! And even if you did then it sounds expensive.

Whole units are available with an unpainted but primed cover on eBay for 60 quid for pre facelift mk2s, for example item 130671579055. Obviously will depend on your car and its functions whether this is right for you?

It is easy to spray just the cover and the door card comes off by removing six screws (search on here) and easing off the clips. Just make sure you also source some replacement clips to put door card back on (eBay again).

The only ones I can find on eBay which are the same shape & spec are £140 and come from Poland. 130671579055 Is the wrong shape

Try entering 1Z2857508M on skodaparts.com?

Hmm sounds like it may be the Polish option then.  When I was looking (admittedly for a pre FL) there were loads on eBay, not so many anymore..
