Auto Express review Superb / Sigma/ Fiat

Featured Replies

New today , this week Auto Express have a review comparing the Superb against a Sigma and Fiat Croma The Sigma comes first with Superb second therfore the Fiat had to be last . But who wants a 4 seat Sigma that costs more than the Superb

I assume you mean Lutons finest Signum??

Signums are weird anyway - i looked at the 2.0T (mega cheap due to horrific depreciation) when i was buying the VRS, reasonable performance but boring looking - and only a 4 seater with individual seats in the back

They had a few digs at the Skoda too. Why is it that something that was perfectly acceptable yesterday is all of a sudden rubbish and out of date today (the 'dated' dash). Tidy and ergonomic / well laid out etc is all of a sudden rubbish now that its not got a VW badge on the steering wheel and VW has brought a new one out...

PS the Signum is an overpriced Vectra Estate IMO. Wooo I drive a signum me, arn't I special? Err, no..

On a price issue , isn it not true that at present you could get a Superb with full leather and Sat Nav for less than the 4 seat Stigma

I agree with the overprices vectra comment - however a bargain if you want a 12 - 18 month old one, and can live with the seating arangement. I looked at a 54 plate 2.0T Design with 19in alloys, sat nav, leather, fridge for between the rear seats    and 8k miles on the clock-

Thought that myself - I think they also have the servicing limit incorrect at up to 18,000ish miles I believe its 30,000ish and up to 2 years.

They never mentioned that the Superb has folding seat swabs which were visible in photo, good report as is normally the case with Auto expess and Skodas. Agree with them its starting to look a bit dated, but its still a great car for the money.

Interestingly they mentioned the 2.0TDI is to be fitted soon in the Superb alongside the 1.9PDI, I read about that in the Frankfurt show info, a friend of mines puttng of his replacement Superb as this is rumoured to be launched.

Indeed while looking at a smart 'edition 100' Superb the other week my local dealer revealed the Superb is about to get the same engines as the new Octavia - 2.0tdi 1.9tdi140bhp I think? not 100% sure? bt it's getting the same engines (except the V6's obviously)

The Frankfurt info I read did state 140bhp, but I wasn't sure what markets it would be available in as the UK can be different - But todays Auto express mentioned it in their review so I can only assume Skoda UK briefed them with the info and it will happen.

My bet is that it wil be made available in true Skoda Style in certain trim levels only.

Think only the new 2.0 tdi 170 would interest me with the Superb.

140tdi 2.0L in superb would be a good thing as euroIV compliant. Mine's due to replace next march.

I agree with review comments above. I initailly was considering the new Passat, but it just does not look 'right'. The Superb is looking a tad dated, but price/kit ratio swings it. And I love my "tank". :)

Superb goes quite well with 170 bhp and 288 Lbs/ft torque :D

Looking at the interior photos above, thet Sigmum looks GERY, DULL, and CHEAP :orb_sleep

Ah, that'd be a new vauxhall then....................

Actually, could also be mistaken for a renault too - same interior colour scheme :thumbdwn:
