I vaguely remember a program called Camel mpegjoin, or something like that.

Mpegs if they are part of a series can usually just be copied together in DOS - i.e.

copy /b 1.mpg+2.mpg+3.mpg all.mpg

or there are oodles of freeware programs out there. AVIs and WMVs are more difficult and DO require software.
