How to remove/replace top part of door mirror

Featured Replies

Both my (red corrida) door mirrors badly need repainting because of lacquer peeling and scratch marks etc.

Been told mirror glass sits in a pivot and will need to be pulled-out.

Sounds a bit like, I'm gonna break the mirror and add more expense to replace?

Advice how to remove, possibly a photo or two to demostrate procedure.

I do not want to mask the area off, as I want to spray/ repair, under-cover..

Thank you in advance for help members.

they do just pull out, my advice would be to use the widest lever you can while doing it, a wooded spatula or something, I've done it 4 times, with 2 breaks. Good luck!

they do just pull out I used 2 allen keys  as hooks either side and give a gentle sharp pull and had no problems when fitting the  new glass use the flat of your hand roll a cloth into a ball push from the centre good luck

Sorry, not explained clearly, I want to remove/ replace the top coloured painted plastic mirror surround.

Thanks for advice to remove/ replace mirror glass.

their is two small torx screws that fix the the plastic bit from the bottom then there are two screws behind the mirror screwing into the plastic cover you wish to remove. I'm pretty sure you can remove it without removing the glass but putting it back together is a bit tricky, the lower part of the wing mirror case wraps around and interlocks with the upper part.

Sorry I don't have pictures but there is defiantly 4 small torx screws holding it together.

Thanks for taking the time to explain.

Will now be aware of what's what, when the rain stops and I am able to tackle the job.LOL
