Best Polish for a Candy White Car

Featured Replies

What is the best polish for a Candy White Car, I've got access to some Swissvax Glacier Wax from a friend to top the polish off with but want a good polish to use first.

I've already got Autosmart Platinum, AG SRP and Megs Ultimate and Gold Glass available in my "toolkit" any recommendations?

Is `Candy White` a Solid or Metallic colour?

For me if you have SRP, use that, it is a great hand polish and rarely gives a bad finish.

Are you working by hand? If so I would invest in a chemical guys hexlogic white hand polishing pad

Preparation is key

Is your car swirl free?

Will you be polishing by hand or with a Machine Polisher?

Will the paintwork be totally free of contaminents like road tar and old LSP's?

However, based on your post:

If youre using Swissvax, then a 'cleaner polish' will be apporopriate..Like Dodo Juice Lime Prime or their own...best done with a Machine Polisher

However, since you mention some products you already have, I would use the AGSRP and apply the Wax over that

OR

Decontaminate...then polish with the Megs Ultimate and wipe with IPA prior to applying the wax

So many options for you to consider

Can you give more information please?

Polish is not colour dependant.

More info required before any real recommendation can be given like state of paint, what machine (if any) plus what pads you have (if any)

I would tend to agree - paint condition and defects to be addressed..... using what tools?

Just about to start on a light paint cleanse on this Porsche today - easy with the DA for sure.

After wash and decon stage - the paint seems very healthy - but it is only a 14-plate.

No major scratches or defects to address - so an easy shift i hope..... then time for a drive out and lunch!

As stated above, more info needed, but a thorough decontamination will work wonders on white.

Take a look at a Jag I did for a friend at work. The process on that was pretty sound.

It just depends on how far you want to go with it.

Neil, do you know whether the XF was a Solid or Metallic White?

It's solid white, bud.

It's solid white, bud.

Thank you.

Well hopefully as the car will be brand new the paint "should" be pretty good, will be using good old fashioned muscle power, no access to any polishing machinery and wouldn't trust myself with it.

Candy White is a Skoda Solid Colour

Will be using Bilt Hamber Auto Wheels and Korrosol  as well with Snow Foam and wash with the 3BM.

You didnt say it was brand new

Probably no tar to remove but you will be suprised how much Iron contamination there is

Good luck

If its brand new pal, iron remover, clay with plenty of lubrication, quick IPA wipedown and then your swissvax. Nice and easy. You can put srp on if you wish, but wax bonds better to squeaky clean paint.

Pictures or it didn't happen ;-)

With a top coat of swissvax on a new car I wouldn't worry about polishing it. Just a good de tar and de iron and clay like has been said before. Although I suppose you may need a light polish in case you marr the paint with the clay

Thanks for the feedback guy's, it's my Brother's car (Candy white Petrol VRS Hatch) and he is waiting for it to be built he has been told week 27 but advised that could be brought forward, as long as its after Week 22 he won't really care apart from the fact that we are going to Germany in July and he is hoping he will have it for then to help with the running in process ;)
