Aaaaaaahhhh Wheel Bolts!!!!

Featured Replies

hi all,

hope someone can help, i have an octy vRS, ive lost my lockn wheel nut key type thing, are these all the same? for the skoda's? its like a star shape, that fits inside the bolt? will the dealer have spares or are the different?

pls help

Would have thought they are all different for security reason.....get the dealer to remove them and get a new set....it's better to be safe than sorry.

will they be able to do that ok?

I'm sure your dealer will be able to get the bolts off (may be they'll just order a key for them).

But like I said it's probably safer to have a new set ready.

Dealers should have a full set of keys for emergency use by them. Skodaw or K will be able to confirm.

Have my wheel-bolt keys very well hidden in the car - so much so, that when I had my springs done I had to rack m brain for a few seconds to think where I'd shoved it.

I would think the key code would be on the key, and the dealer can order a set (making sure you're the correct owner of course.)

Should be standard, Key usually in vicinity of spare Wheel.:)

The standard locking nuts used by VAG have a range of numbers -- your dealer should be able to match the existing and order a new key for you -- but I would strongly suggest you might like to invest in a set of McGard locking nuts -- they are much more secure than the standard lot -- and cost about the same -- the standard locking nuts can be removed VERY easily without ANY special tools AND without doing any damage.

Locking wheelnut removal sockets are freely available to almost anyone now ..............so if they want them badly enough , I suspect they will get them .

My point exactly -- but with the standard ones -- you don't even need that !! -- plus you would struggle to use the remover type socket on vRS wheels

Thanks guys - I can just imagine the stress of looking at a shiny new set of 18s on the drive and then seeing a lock on the current rims :)
