New Yeti owner in Switzerland

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I can go pick up my Yeti 2.0 140 HP 4x4 DSG this Friday. It's the first car I have ever owned, although I'm only one step ahead of the 40ies. Have been very satisfied for years with the Swiss public transport and a car sharing program that is available here and the occasional use of my GFs antique Seat Ibiza. Well, it broke down (the car) and I thought that the next's on me, and it needs a tow hitch to haul a horse or a glider.

Test drove the 1.6 greenline, admired its modest thirst, but didn't like the 5 gear manual - shifts like a truck. I'm used to the Ibiza's sporty gear shifting feeling - short throw, smooth and quick gear changes, and the Yeti didn't give me that. Plus I didn't like the feeling of waiting for the engine to reach higher RPM to get the car moving. So the sporty driver in me opted for the 2 litre diesel although the greenie in me complains - but I'm sure it will shut up once the car is here.

Looking forward to read, learn and possibly mod.

A colleague from work just signed a leasing contract for a 300+ HP Audi, I'll ask him if I can borrow his engine.

Have ordered a tow bar and Jaeger electronics and am considering a reverse camera.

Thanks for the warm welcome :-)
