Pew!_what a whiff!

Featured Replies

I just used a couple of products for my first time and more then anything I noticed... What a whiff!

Iron x 'd my rims.  Now I'd bought the lemon scent as I'd read the cherry smelt rank.... Well the lemon doesn't hide the rank background pong very well either!  Poooeey!   It's a smell I know but for the life of me I can't think what.

After x'ing up the rims I rinsed then dried the paint work, and used AG aqua wax as I drying aid.  Phew!  Strong smell of sweet bubble gum!  Its not unpleasant, quite nice even, and went some way to mask the rank whiff drifting up from the rims.... But is it really needed?

:D

on a more serious note, both pruducts seemed easyto use. Not sure the iron x got much off but i keep my gemini rims clean anyway, the aquawax definitely made drying the car a doddle though!  I normally use a nice big chamois ( old skool me) but after reading thr bottle i squirted sparingly and used just asmall, cheap MF towel (not the ones included with the wax, a much cheaper one).  It was really simple to dry the whole octy!   Very grey and daylight fading i cant comment on the shine i achieved yet but fingers  crossed

I use Auto Finesse Iron out which is basically the same.  I always feel like I am going to gag a little filling up the spray bottle from the 5 litre pot. :D

And then there's the stench when you accidentally spray and a gust carries it more toward your face. [retch!]

I am glad it does hell of a job on removing fallout though :D

Iron removers have something of a sulphur smell.

Spilt some in the dailys boot, jeeze. Had to leave sunroof and windows open

Sulphur hmm yes. Not eggy, but not pleasant... Google reveal sodium hydrosulfite and sodium metabisulfite are the active ingredients.

Hang on... Google has just found this super iron out....a household

It is a fair bit cheaper than iron x!   I'm guessing the only difference is the lemon scent.  Anyone used it?

Nice find and very cheap

It might be worth testing it on a small area of the car first before you use it in earnest

Good find, but i'm not sure i'd want to use it on a car, professional grade & ideal for paths & walls etc puts me off.

Yes there's a world of difference between fairly and 100% confident!  The shipping costs make it much less of a bargain anyway.

I remember when iron x brought out the improved flower scent... Medow flowers or something like that and thought it might be better but it just smelt like sewerage with a hint of flower air freshener lol!

Bit like many toilet air fresheners :D

Does no one els get headaches from all the smells? Is it just me? :D

Try using scented screenwash. It bloody stinks. Even when diluted. It smells ok when actually coming through the jets but not when your head is over the bottle!

No. Never had....But I keep well clear if I can

I used to use the early "crushed flowers" Iron X , man it honked! I use Iron Awe now which smells a lot better but still doesnt smell pleasant. I dont like the smell of Tardis either but it seems that a lot of companies are drifting away from the heavily scented products

Use Bilt Hamber Korrosol and you won't have the bad smell.

+1 for this - my next purchase Ben, when I use up the remains of my current product!

Iron awe is thicker and clings better plus is cheaper than the BH stuff

Had the car out the garage for first time since Monday, first chance to admire the shine in the sun.  I'm impressed!  That AG aqua wax makes my car shine and me smile.  :D
