Biting Point - Clutch

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Just wondering whether it's normal for the biting point to be really high on the MK1 Fabia? And is there any way to bring it down without replacing the clutch/having garage equipment? Mine's really high - only fractionally below fully up, and it's annoying me because I like to have a bit more feel of it.

Cheers!

you can try bleeding the clutch but tbh i say the clutch is worn

No it isn't normal and usually means it's worn down and thin.

What's clutch replacement like as a job? Is it something I should attempt myself (novice) or am I best to get a garage to do it? Is it the kind of job that'll bleed me dry?

I can't see on my phone, but what model Fabia do you have?

If you have tools and a helper I'd say try it yourself, but watch some guides to fitting the clutch to make sure you put it the correct way round and line it up centre.

When you think about it, it's a very easy job, in a nutshell...

Remove both bottom ball joints

Remove driveshafts

Remove air box

Remove battery + tray

Clutch pipe + linkages

Gearbox out.

It's the 1.9SDI.

Cheers dude.

You should be fine with that, very basic.

Garage will want around £150 I'd imagine so think it over if it's worth the hassle for you or not.

£200 we charge depending on vehicle
