New Amundsen radio-navigation system for Fabia lll

Featured Replies

In response to customer demand, ŠKODA has broadened the infotainment package for the ŠKODA Fabia to include the built-in navigation system Amundsen. The Amundsen radio-navigation system offers a 2.5-D graphic with an 800x480-screen resolution.  MapCare in Europe is included as a series-standard element of the navigation system.  This entitles customers to six free updates within three years of the initial purchase.

What's the source of that quote?

I believe that the Amundsen will be an option, as there is a pdf manual for it (in german) online somewhere, dated may 2015 and listing the fabia on the back.

My gut feeling is that Amundsen will be 'smartlink' enabled, and the rest of us will be stuck with the rather disappointing and crappy mirrorlink.

I am really annoyed, as android auto is what I have been waiting for, and I think we were all under the impression that it would be a simple software update for our current bolero's.

Starting to think that this is going to get ugly with skoda, going to be lot's of annoyed punters out there.

I have already raised an issue with skoda regarding mirrorlinks uses and possible updating, so we will see.

Pretty sure that none of us would have bought an early car if we knew that there was going to be a rather important update as little as 2 months later.

The more I think about it, the more annoyed I get.

Thanks. I'll bring that to my dealer's attention.

Looks as if we have been guinea pigs and Skoda will hide behind the get out clause "we are constantly updating our products" Joe

The one reason I haven't yet updated to the Fabia 3 is because of its lack of sat nav. I hardly use mine day to day but when I do, it's absolutely brilliant and I'd hate to go back to awful tomtoms.

Hopefully I'll be able to get a Fabia 3 when the new Monte comes out in autumn, with DSG And Amundsen :)

Can someone get hold of a new brochure when it comes out

It should be available as a download.
