And my problems continue :D

Featured Replies

I just had a new flywheel, clutch, release bearing and cam belt fitted by an indy. No problems at all with the clutch but I had suspicions I had an engine mount issue so I supplied the bottom mount rubbers. The mechanic said mine were fine and didn't fit them. Just started the car and greeted by a massive shudder and what sounds like the exhaust blowing from the manifold. It is a single VERY loud raw exhaust sound which lasts a second and lots of engine movement. Reving the engine even lightly shakes the whole car. Happens every time I start the car. Just wondering if a mount has not been reconnected properly? Does anyone know if the gearbox side engine mount is removed during flywheel swap or anything else that could be the issue. As the mechanic is 110 miles away I may have to rectify myself.

Yes, as I said I thought I had an engine mount issue, now there is the noise to go with it too. Just had a better look at the car and I think its the big black plastic pipe  is not connected at the bottom. I am guessing its induction noise. Also found two screws on the bulkhead, they are from the expansion tank which was just sitting there unsecured. When I got the car back the top of the air air intake that goes to the front grill was off and sitting behind the airbox. I think I am going to get an insert for the subframe bushes as with a gravel driveway changing them myself is a nightmare.

Sounds like a great mechanic! :dull:

I think it was getting close to 5pm and even though I said keeping it for two days was fine he insisted it was going to be done in one.

Ok after getting someone to start the car for me outside I am pretty sure it's a missfire. Interestingly it only happens when the car us up to temperature hence taking a while to spot it. Phoned the mechanic and he said either water in the fuel or a blocked injector. Problem is its still on the same full tank of premium fuel it was on before I had the work done and there was no missfire before. No faults in vcds and the mechanic has advised I get some Injector cleaner. As always opinions welcome.

Could the new cam belt be the issue? Perhaps not fitted correctly and timing slightly out? Just a stab in the dark.

I did ask this Stu as I have never changed a Cambelt myself. He said if it was out the car wouldn't start at all.
