Right price?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Been offered a Mk1 Octavia vRS with 120k and FSH for £1850. It's just had a new battery and new brakes all around, the MOT is due in November and the belt due next year. Is this a decent price or what should I be looking at for it?

Thanks

Hard to say without seeing it, sounds reasonable. Sure you can find something to chip a bit off with already owning one, plus I suppose you know what to look out for as well.

Have a look at the arches and sills, these can rust if not looked after.  How are the wheels and tyres?  Exhaust ok?  Cambelt due?

Etc

Oh yeah, and the central locking!

I bought a 2003 vRS estate last week, with FSH (main dealer), 146k on the clock and new MOT with no advisories, and the belt done at last service and paid £1990.

It had been very well looked after, and I have since found out it used to belong to a chap on Briskoda too so am very happy!!!

Sounds like about the right price to me...

Cheers chaps! It's got no rust, tyres are all good, exhaust is good and as far as I know was serviced a couple of thousand miles ago. The only issues are the front passenger C/L is a bit intermittent and the rear wiper doesn't work but I've heard these are both fairly common. It comes with the mechanism to fit to the door but just needs doing so I'll give it a go!

Is it better just to rainex the rear window and remove the rear wiper/smooth it out?

Bet the passenger door mech just needs a good lube. Rear wiper motor us serviceable, quite often sorts it out to split it open, clean it up and pack it with grease. But yeah sure you can blank it.

My passenger door occasionally wouldn't lock, door card off big time lube, been fine since all through autumn and winter and still ok.

Still stuff to knock em down a bit though.

He's a good mate so don't want to fleece him, just making sure it's a fair price really. Been without a car for a few weeks, it's horrendous! Can't wait to get back behind the wheel!

Good stuff
