Now that you folks mention the ability to use voice control to enter the postcode I'm dying to give this a try. Entering by hand is a right faff with all the looking for the ptcd button and having to toggle ABC 123 too many times

It is possible with the recent map update but extraordinarily difficult especially with a broad Yorkshire accent ( other regional accents are available) it frequently doesn't recognise "postcode" but somewhere in Wales that I don't want to go to , when it does work it only recognises the first 3/4 of the post code then you have to select extra options

Bit of a faff I would say but as my daily journeys are usually 100 plus miles long I've got plenty of time to persevere as you usually only need the say nav for the last part of the journey . I guess if you had a passenger then it might be a little tiresome

My MIB1 Amundsen doesn't, and AFAIK the MIB2 version doesn't either.

Very useful guys. I'll try tomorrow having been totally befuddled by the apparent inconsistency and excessive complication of making satnav entries.

 

Having had a 1.9 TDI Elegance, 140HP 2.0 TDI with the suspension kit and now a brand new Octavia VRS I'm well pleased with the cars.

 

The main manual is not too bad but, admittedly as a first time satnav user, I find the Amundsen manual incomprehensible. I would have thought the first section on satnav should be an easy step by step set of images showing how to enter an address, a postcode and enter a location by tapping on the map screen. All the sophistication can come later. It's bad enough getting it to stop calculating routes when you're just sitting at home trying to enter a list of destinations where only guidance for the last 10 miles or so is needed not a route which I can probably work out better using either an atlas or the on screen mapping .

 

Anyone up to writing up a step by step user guide for basic functions that can be downloaded and printed?

Is it my imagination or before the November map update did the postcode finder recognise the space in a postcode or not?

 

I tried to enter a postcode today after updating the maps and it wouldn't let me enter the space although I am (sort of) certain that it let me enter spaces pre-November update.
