IMac problem with BBC News

Featured Replies

Anyone else have a problem loading the BBC News website on their iMac?

About a month ago things appeared to have changed. I can use Sport, weather, iPlayer etc but the News section fails to expand. Everything is fine on my iPad regardless of whether I use the App or just go into the website through Google.

Most odd!

Not got an imac to try and see, but i thiught i was the only nutter on brisky at this hour! Bleeding middle of the night feed...

Cache clear time maybe?

P.S. It's not the middle of the night - it's the crack of dawn!

The BBC recently "optimised" their website for mobile users, as they say that the majority of visitors now do so on a mobile device; I am guessing this is the cause of your problem. How to fix it is beyond me though; have you asked on a Mac forum??

Yes. Cannot find anything on forum yet. I have a feeling you are right about the cause of the problem though. Thanks for your thoughts.

New BBC news website works fine on my Mac using safari, no problems at all.

Must be an Adblock/Mac issue, as I run Adblock on WinXP with no issues

A number of sites now won't work with adblockers

The ad networks do something to the page so it won't load fully, and when you do a temporary unblock you have to watch an advert before it'll unlock and show the page with the original static ads.

Mostly news sites for now.

True, but unless you are accessing the BBC website from outside of the UK, there are no adverts, so the AdBlocker blocker shouldnt be there.

Ah ha! Seems like Adblock Plus allows BBC to run all the time but still keeps rubbish away from the Mac. Result......I hope!
