London for the night

Featured Replies

Decided to go for a raz round London tonight with my brother and mate. We keep trying to go but each time something goes wrong, the first time my brothers GSXR ran out of electric, resulting in a embarrassing bump start in the middle of Camden at 9pm on a friday night. :D The second time my brother left early and we went to meet him later only to find he'd ****ed off home early thinking we wasnt coming (his phone had died).

So, I'm off work, weather looks dry and not too windy and we're going to try again. 2 x CB1000Rs and a Fireblade, not too sure where we're going to go, maybe find some tunnels and super cars to oggle at. :D

Haa. Sounds good mate. Have a good one!

Never actually ridden round London myself, quite a way for me.

Enjoy! I'll stick to the country roads haha

Just got back. In all honesty it's no fun for riding enjoyment, just easier to get around quickly on two wheels. It's only a hour away from me so not far to go.

Ah okay

Did you have a good time then? See many nice cars?

Yeah it was a right laugh, was crying at one point from laughing so much :D My brother was trying to chat women up while waiting at traffic lights, my mates mrs was taking photos from the pillion seat of his bike as we rode through everywhere :D We went down to park lane, saw a few super cars, had a nose in the window of the BMW bike dealership and Ferrari dealer. Rode past the Mclaren dealer in Kensington, through Chelsea and over the bridge to Putney. Stopped for a quick snack a Maccy Ds in Wandsworth, over to the eye for a couple of pictures then back over the bridge to Trafalgar square and up through Camden.

Every time we go at night it amazes me how busy the place is, last night was mad. We arrived at Park Lane at around 11 so obviously still busy as expected but the Maccy Ds was rammed and when we were going through Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square it was mental, people everywhere, stupid little tuk tuk cycle things that carry people about everywhere too, this was at about 3am. We got stuck in some traffic after that, filtered through most of it until a **** in a Addison Lee taxi decided to block our path, 3 loud bikes bouncing off the limiter will have distracted him from his phone call when we did manage to get along side though :D

That said, I did enjoy the filtering last night, nearly all the roads are 20mph so there's no chance of speed for fun but it was strangely satisfying flick through the traffic. My exhaust is bedding in nicely now too, had a play with revs and stuff, taking it up to 8k then rolling off the throttle makes a nice burble and popping noise, amplified buy the buildings lining the roads.

We left via Hampstead, shot up the motorway/a roads and arrived home about 4am. Got a bit chilly on the way back but just wanted to get home so didnt stop to get hoody/winter gloves on. Also done the whole ride on a tank, 130 miles when we got home, light flashing but considering it was lots of stop start riding not too bad.

Where you from Matt?

I mast say we have done a few night runs like 2-3am in the summer and it starts to get light but with hardly any traffic, like in the opening scene of 28 days later!!!

That's a laugh

I love late night summer runs. Brilliant fun.

I'm based about a hour north of London up the A5. It is a right laugh having the roads almost to yourself, cant wait for summer!
