Little demo of "solution finish" trim restorer

Featured Replies

This is the best trim restorer I have ever used.  There might be better out there, which often cost way more for smaller amounts.

This stuff is not cheap but for about £30 you get this bottle.  It's black, its foul, but it goes a long way.  I give you, "Solution Finish"

This is my mate's car that I am loaning whilst the mongrel is off for some necessary work

The bottle (they do come in small sizes but I wanted economies of scale)

Mmm, black gunk!

This trim was sadly beyond even Solution Finish.  I went over it, but ultimately it needs replacing. :(

After - will probably need another hit, but shall see what it looks like in a few hours

Nearside front bumper lip - bit chipped anyway.

Anyone else use this, or anything similar? :)

As I decided to give the car a wash too, I thought I'd get a couple of shots of how it reacts with water.

Looks like a nice product

How does it compare to GTechniq C4 (Permanent solution)?

I believe that is the "better more expensive" product I was referring to.  :D   I have not used it myself though.

That looks good.

There was a recent thread asking about restoring the black sill trim on a Yeti which seems to discolour where the two doors join.

This might be a solution to that...

Not to get into my stuff's better than your stuff but from memory the forever black stuff seemed to be a little more effective. I did the bumpers on the Mk2 golf a few years back and they were very faded but came up really well when I did them.

Is the stuff that you used more of a dye or is it a treatment?

I'm sure I've got some pictures somewhere.

Not bad but c4 restores no matter how bad my daughter had a ford ka that had white bumpers and plastics near wipers that came like new

That's great news as I've got some in my garage waiting to be used.

Make sure it's spotless 1st and clean with alcohol , face cream wipes are best to apply with

Don't be to quick to dismiss what can be done by these treatments, even that worst trim will look better after regular treatments I'm sure.

The key is regular treatments, for restoration and for protection.

For simplicity and value I'm currently using kiwi shine and protect liquid shoe polish. It seems quite good but only used it once so far.

You use shoe shine on your car?

You use shoe shine on your car?

Only on the boot!  Coat on leaving. :D

You use shoe shine on your car?

Yes. I tried it after reading the tip on some car website or other.  Liquid on to a cloth and wipe on to the black plastic exterior trim.  It seems to give a nice shine and blacken the trim but I can't comment on longevity yet.

I have tried Solution Finish Trim restorer on my Yeti. Must agree with Devonutopia it is a quality product, not tried C4 so cannot compare.
