Remote on power wire from stereo

Featured Replies

Hi guys, had a sub & amp in the car for a while hooked up to standard stereo. Its using one of those yellow blocks with 2 x rca outputs and a remote wire to turn the amp on with the stereo.

Now so some reason the remote power wire has stopped working, i checked the boltage with multimeter, everything else is working and if i power it seperatly it works.

Any ideas? Or which wire can i attach it to thats ignition live as dont want the amp permantley on.

Cheers

Are you sure you haven't disabled your pre-out via the headunit? Some head units allow you to enable disable it especially if you only have 1 pre-out.

Edit - Sorry just realized you are using the standard head unit.

On the multi plug at the back of the radio, MS 202 402 502 & Symphony.

The Switched positive for amp, is Multipin plug connection C, part 1, yellow, pin 6.

The Connection for Ignition key control, On & Off is, Multiplug  connection A, pin 4

Did you check the voltage on the wire or off the back of the h/u. I'd be tempted to splash another £5-£10 for a new pre-out lead before doing anything else.

I checked it off the back of the wire, i will check the HU next time. Thanks

I had a issue with my sony unit when I first got it, I just wired it straight to my ignition live

All fixed now, the power wire had actually got unpluged from yellow plug. I plugged it back in and retaped it and all sorted!

Thanks for the help people, i had checked the power at back of unit and saw that it was still putting out 12v and then saw the loose wire.
