It's not a VAG issue, it is a trade-off for running polished or diamond cut alloys which affects all manufacturers.

 

Yeah I know all diamond cut wheels get it. It was the centre caps whiteworm  I meant being a VAG issue. Its been going on for so long and they have to keep replacing them under warranty, sometimes multiple times. Surely there should be some solution by now!

To hear that the new centre caps (black and chrome / latest logo) are also suffering the same issue as the old green centre caps so soon is a real shame.

 

You'd really think Skoda would have sunk another few Euro's into the design to make them a little more durable.

I have never used acidic wheel cleaners but all wheel cleaners are aggressive since the have a tough job but my go-to wheel cleaner wont strip wax but I still had corroded wheel centres

This was a New Replacement and after a dealer fitted it i took it off 10 miles later and put it in as the spare wheel.

Had to use it yesterday when i had a puncture,  but then thats just how they go with H20 & Air. 

Skoda refused to replace my corroded caps but replaced one of wheels...Bit annoyed but I guess I should have pushed it...

Well, luckily the center caps are pretty cheap to purchase a set.

Just an update, had my car serviced this morning at White Dove Cardiff. Mentioned the wheels to the service desk when handing over keys and a couple of hours later the car was handed back washed and vacuumed and a warranty query logged with Skoda. Just had a call to say they've ordered four new wheels and centre caps and what day can they fit them, even offered a courtesy car or a lift into town. Top class service all in all especially as I only booked the car in with them at lunchtime yesterday.

Having all 4 replaced by SKODA, outside warranty term!, for free, this week!....result
