Blacking Out The Chrome Grill

Featured Replies

Has anyone blacked out or made their front grill a more gunmetal colour? I have (am getting) a black Tavia and will be tinting the windows and thought this would set the car off well.

Thanks

Steve

My grill broke so I removed the chrome and stuck a great bit bit of mesh over it. Looks rubbish to be honest - thought it would grow on me but it hasn't.

Here's a little pic (was an old signature):

I've got a Milotec grill now with black mesh insert which i've just had sprayed. I'll put it on tomorrow and take a pic - should be much better!

Fitted this this morning before work :)

This is the Milotec grill in black (after a respray!) - what do you reckon:

It's missing something.... a Skoda badge :D

Seriously, it is better than the Blue Peter job ;)

I was thinking "hammerite" when I saw the thread title - Chrome works well with silver so I will not be following a similar path.

Grill looks good, Dave - also like the hypnotic looking numberplate too - must be good for avoiding speed cameras.

See here for the before version:

A definite improvement, Dave, but there was something about the homemade version that said "Get the feck outta my way NOW!!!"

Regards,

Mark

Q - you've no idea how many rolls of sticky back plastic it took to make the first one ;)

The other one was a bit 'out the feckin way' - this one will be too - just need to get me KW's and drop it by around 3inches... :D

are those number plates road legal Dave?

errr not sure if your all joking about the number plate or not but it's been twisted in Painshop Pro so you cant tell what it is! It is just a boring normal number plate underneat the effects. Although the car does look much better without it (but only at night ;) )

I quite like the grille, Dave, but think it would look better with the Skoda badge on it. After all we don't have a 'thing' about our cars being Skodas, do we!

god, i wish i hadn't seen that............

so the list is now:

- kw's

- ice incl. satnav

- milotec grill

cheers dave!

:D

sorry dave was extracting the urine...:D

Dave,

IMHO something missing....you need some of that chrome Jag mesh.....will off set everything nicely......if you want to keep the "black" theme then some black chrome meshing would do it.....Demontweeks do it.

Other than that....pukka mate!

Cheers.

Adrian.

 I was also extracing much urine - I probably should have followed my comment by a:  or :p

BTW - I normally only take the michael when I'm envious... and want what I'm trying to extract the michael out of.

Dave I think it looks the dogs danglies. All you need is a red light flashing from side to side and hey presto it might even talk to you :D

I have a bike-light that does that. Very cool.

Flashes from left to right that is, (with a fade in the following lights like KITT) not talks to me.

Is it a rear light? I had one that went on the seat-post that had five seperate LEDs around 180 degrees of the back of it. Looked really good in the dark, but hardly ever use it now. :(

[must get back on the bike!]

Dave - looks pretty cool... the lack of a skud badge may be a disadvantage for some, but i don't think it's a major thing. If anything, it adds to the "stealth" look favoured by certain members on here... :)

Hmmmm.... something else to consider for the fabby! :D

Yes it's a rear-one. It's a five LED cateye and one it's many, many modes is the KITT one.

You've picked the wrong time of year to try and get cycling again.

:D

It's far too obvious a change to be considered stealthy. True stealth involves a degree of subtlety IMHO...

:( - Tell me about it - when I think about riding again it starts to approach freezing temps again! Bloomin' eck!

Only got myself to blame really.

As subtle as a dynamic blue coloured subtle thing, Denis?

Mine is outwardly a perfectly ordinary Skoda Octavia Estate - apart from apparently having a smaller engine than is available for the Estate. Does that answer your question, such as it is, Steve? rolleyes.gif

(I picked up a few tricks from following the Hutton Inquiry).

PS: Red and yellow, to name but 2 other colours, are subtle?!!!
