Heated windscreen washer jets

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm hoping it's possible to retrofit heated windscreen washer jets. I have a FL Superb combi Elegance. Has anyone done it or does anyone know if it can be done and what is involved please?

cheers

My MKII Elegance had them as standard - are you sure they are not already fitted

Ours were an optional extra on our 2014 MkII L&K.

I must admit they are great - won't stop the water from freezing once it hits the screen though  :dull:

nor the water freezing in the pipes themselves. water freezing on the screen we can solve by turning on our heated screen which is a truly wonderful thing - no more scraping in the morning (except the side windows that is).

Heated washer jets waste of time. They do not stop freeze up of pipes and the heat can if a strong antifreeze is not added to system cause slight evaporation of the antifreezde solution. Only had 40 years experience as a motor vehicle technician and never had heated jets on any vehicle. Have experimented with seveal own designs of heated washer systems and found the best was thick copper piping wrapped around a heater pipe under bonnet, the heat transmitted through the whole washer system and stopped freeze up even in washer bottle, but as in all systems heated water will freeze quicker and easier on a freezing cold screen. Using the correct dilutions of antifreeze, not forgetting to allow for wind chill,  in the washer system will always give the best results, stop pump freezing and pipes pushing off.

Wow £250, that would buy an awful lot of screen wash.
