1.6tdi services...

Featured Replies

Oil and filters 10,000, cambelt 100,000

Sound OK?

No idea on the 1.6 but I was told 140000 miles for the cambelt on the 2.0L so it may be right.

Set it on variable service intervals if you do more than 10 000 miles a year and let the car tell you when it reckons the oil needs replacing. Cambelt on the CR170 engine has 210 000 km/130 000 mile intervals.

I need to schedule services for school holidays, if its says "NOW" just as I start a 6 week term it will be over when it gets done and invalidate the warranty

Do what I do. I have the service set to variable, but I always get it serviced before the car tells me it needs to be done. That way, you won't invalidate the warranty by going over the fixed service interval, and you can still get it serviced at your convenience.

The mileage and time (days) count down on the computer so the need for a service shouldn't come as a surprise.

You also get a message each time you turn on the ignition when you get within a certain mileage / time of the service, usually a good few weeks before the count down reaches 0.

The cambelt mileage varies by engine / model / build year so you'll be better firing off a quick email to Skoda UK with your VIN...

The time interval is fixed at 5 years for all cars built after September 2010.

Good Afternoon,

Servicing for your vehicle should be variable servicing. Every 2 years or 20,000 which ever comes first.

Cambelt change advised every 5 years

If you would prefer to have a service every 10,000 miles, £137.48 for an oil change service

If you would like to book or have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact me

A minor service is carried out every 12 months or 10,000
miles, whichever comes sooner.

A minor service includes:

  • Oil & filter change (fully synthetic oil)
  • Vehicle inspection test and report*
  • Full vehicle road test**
  • Vehicle & software enhancements from ŠKODA’s database
  • Replacement pollen filter †
  • Diagnostic check including report
  • Re-set service interval display
  • Wash and vacuum
  • ŠKODA stamp in service book

Sounds better.....I see they say "stamp the book".....good job Ive bought one

Is it £139 plus or inc vat I wonder

That is very expensive. I always supply the oil which usually reduces the bill bt about £70 as labour is obviously still there.

Im tight

But I need a service to meet the warranty requirements

Oils about £45, oil filter about £10 (max), VW dont change any other filters at 10,000 miles or so they say

Funnily enough I enquired today about the cam belt on my 1.6 diesel. As it is newer than 2010 Model Year they said 5 years  like Silver1101 says above but not to go over 140k without changing it.    The car is running so well and is so cheap to run compared to my two previous Fords that I am contemplating keeping it for 150k rather than my normal 75-100k miles.

Im VAT regd, so if I did it myself and raised a VAT invoice (to me) and produced delivery notes/invoices for Skoda oil/filters would it count?

Including VAT.

Considering the latest models no longer get a service book I'd love to see where they are going to add their stamp  :D

At a Skoda main dealer? I can't see many franchised dealers liking that?

Oil is less than £28 delivered to your door (from the Audi main dealer in Cardiff), an oil filter less than a tenner delivered...
