Skoda used approved?

Featured Replies

What is "Skoda Approved" worth?

My sister has bought a Citigo sport on 63 plate with nearly 13k miles. Told by dealer anything that needs doing will be done as it Skoda approved!

Just poppoed out on my way home and took a look, the nearside front tyre is smack bang on the wear marks not even 500 miles in it, its the original continental, the off side is not far off but has about a 1000 miles :(

Where does she stand, she has only had it 3 days and done 60 miles or so?

So much for xx amounts of quality checks

Regards

Worth very little.   The Standard of 'Skoda Approved Used Cars' can be pathetic.

Workshop checks only means they check the car, must be safe for the road, Warranty Applied.

No place do they say there is a decent amount of life left on the Tyres, Disc, Drums, Pads, Shoes.

Or even that the car has a Service if no Service was due.

Talk with the Dealer Principal, and if they do not want to Improve how they sold the car, 'Name & Shame & warn others'.

Cheers

This is the third Skoda we have bought as a family and now over £30k with them in past 3years pity they dont apply a bit of loyalty to their trusty money spenders.

She should go and speak to them. They should have stuck a new pair of tyres on that. Failing that shame them on Twitter, it will usually get a response.

On the limit at 13K miles [emoji15]

My Contis weren't even half worn at 20K.

I'd go straight back and demand they sort it out with no excuses.

Sold my Citigo last year with 11k miles on, the tyres looked hardly worn (Continentals)

I would hazard a guess those tyres weren't worn out on that vehicle, I'll leave others to guess what's happened.

is it continentals used from new I went to see a used citigo  10k miles but tyres looked on way out, I know Im used to chunky treads on my l200, but I presumed tyres had been changed, but would it be worth the bother, they cant be that much to buy

After paying dammed good money and being given all the bull of how a Skoda approved used is this and that, total peace of mind anything that needs doing will be done to find virtually worn out tyres is pretty poor IMHO irrespective of the cost for new.

If it is not that much why did they not do it?

If the tyres have worn down that much in 13k miles, how has the car been driven? Pretty hard I would guess.

I said mine were looking hardly worn when I sold it. I changed the tyres/wheels front to rear a few weeks before I sold it, they had equal amounts of wear as I could see. I'm over 60yrs old, don't drive around like a mad thing but equally don't crawl around either when conditions allow.

She took car to independent and they put tyre at 2mm in centre and 3mm on the edges and the other side is 3.5mm across the whole tyre the rears are both just under 6mm.

Has spoken with the Skoda main dealer it came from and they are not very interested but said bring it in and they would take a look. She popped in and they have suggested swapping fronts to the rear!

I'm popping in tomorrow to have a chat on my sisters behalf. Not very good service so far :(

After my sisters unsuccessful visit to the dealer yesterday, the main sales manager was not there in his defence and the others just wern't interested.

I popped in and saw the sales manager had a quick word, apparently no approved used Skoda should go out with less than 3mm tread across the entire tyre, even though minimum is 1.6mm.

He has agreed to get it in and stick a pair of tyres on the front FOC :)

Good. I hope they're Contis [emoji4]

so they should , they get them trade  price anyway so wouldn't of cost then that much in first place,

If going for a mot, would mention not long left.

skoda approved just probably sounds good.

How come the rears are worn that much less, I know my tyres all wear evenly.

glad you got it sorted.

I think when us girls walk in a salesman tells us anything, they tried to sell me a fabia 09plate 1.4 16 valve mark 3 for £6,000 27k miles said looks its brand new

for a start is was wrong colour never mind price

Front tyres get more wear as they are driving and steering the car. Rears should last 1.5 - 2 times longer. Unless of course you switch front to back each year

mine all wear even but it is a 4x4 so sont know if that's difference not going to get as many miles on these ones last ones got 76k

Crumbs-76k miles on a set of tyres, that is good going!

I thought I did well with an old Peugeot 309 getting the fronts from new to over 30k, the rears still had loads.

im a bit disspointed on the general done 4ok but cant see them lasting till 76k, maybe its different for a 4x4. Or I might drive like Miss Daisy

Update:

The Skoda dealer replaced both front tyres foc :)

Seems they decided to do the PDI too and have now found other things wrong nothing major and re-booked it into the workshop to sort out.

One thing they picked up, is a clicking clutch pedal apparently they have a warranty fix for it?

Sounds like I need to get swmbo's back in as the click on hers drives me nuts but thought it was incurable.

happy days, shame they didn't do the PDI before she bought it, but good that they have now done the right thing
