Monte Carlo running rough

Recommended Posts

Troops need some advise.

I am driving Fabia Monte Carlo 2012. The last 2 mornings when the car is sitting ticking over in neutral gear it feels like the engine is going to stale. Rev counter is going between 750rpm to 1000rpm.

Cheers

Petrol or Diesel engine,

how many miles has it covered from new,

Has it been serviced recently or ever,

has it a fresh Air Filter, Spark Plugs if due & Petrol, Fuel Filter changed?

Good fuel used.

Have you had it long, and has it just started doing this?

So FDH means it has had a Minor & Major Service.  So still on Original Plugs & Air Filter probably.  (have a look at the air filter)

Next Service still might not have the Air Filter or Fuel Filter Changed, unless you ask and pay for that.

Brake Fluid due to be changed as well.

Maybe needing the Ignition Lead changed, ask if there is a service campaign on that.

Maybe a Service Campaign on the Wiring Loom as well.

It is a Minor Service at 3 Years on Fixed Servicing, so be sure they are putting it on the VAS & doing any Software Update.

If it needs Warranty Work, be sure to get it done before it has been Registered for 3 years, so before the MOT.

Filters are Consumables.

Fuel Filter incase you get bad fuel, which you might have, Air Filter get dirty by Location, weather etc.  In Cities behind Buses,

in the Rain, they can get wet.

You check & change.

Some 1.2TSI have had Ignition Lead issues, that is a Warranty Item if Faulty.

Poor Quality OEM.

Ask the Workshop doing the Service to diagnose the Problem.

If it is a Warranty Item then it should be covered free, maybe they will say it is not, so ask others opinions,

maybe including online.

Check with dealer if your engine is subject to the recall where the turbo is fitted with a shim. Affects 1.2tsi engines to early 2012 iirc.

Anyway if car is still in warranty, just book the car and tell them to fix it under warranty.

Best have any fault codes read and see if there are any issues, sensors, plugs, leads. etc.

Italian Tune Ups are not a good idea these days with Petrol Injection / Turbo engines.

@ only 21.500 miles and under 3 years old and it should not be running rough.
