What video?

Featured Replies

Having not used a VHS recorder for some years I now have the need for a video.

Back in the day when my parents bought theirs (8 yrs ago) I remember Panasonic were the best ones to have.

Anyone got views on this?

And no, DVD writers are not really an option unless they're under

What is it you want it for?

I record TV programmes via my TV card directly onto my hard drive. They can then be edited and burned onto DVD's for viewing on a regular DVD player.

TV cards can be had for peanuts, and certainly within your budget.

Just a thought...

a relative(distant) of helens has just bought a DVD recorder for i believe

Is this for recording, or just playing those dodgy old home videos you have on VHS?

Makes which did me well are Sony and Panasonic but I'm a bit out of touch with the latest ones! :D Actually I think they now combine DVD and VHS players now if you only have space for a single one, but need 2 slots :D

Not really after a 2 in 1 job as I have a rather good DVD player :D

We've had a number of sony players... but they kept on breaking down.... can i suggest either panasonic or sharp.

Panasonic if you need to play/record a good quality video.

Sharp if your not fussed about the overall quality in either record or playback.

Personally i agree with tom... you can download/record whatever you want onto your hard-drive and just write it to disk at very little cost, also means you can make as many copies as you like.

Panasonic are damn good! I've had one since I've been at uni, and still use it now. Only got a DVD player pretty recently. :D Also have a hi-fi thats going strong which was bought for my 13th birthday.... I'm now 26 and a lot. ;) Oh, and a Panasonic TV I've had for 6 years odd, still going well too.

Probably my most faithful brand for electronics.

My sony is still (mostly) ok at 8 years old even though the internal tuner developed a dry joint after 18 months that's been held together with a bit of wood jammed in there :D

I'm sure Asda had a DVD recorder at
