Hopefully someone can clear this up for me please... The manual for my 2005 1.6 MPI Classic (MK2 Estate) shows the fuel tank as 55 litres, but I've seen some people mention it has 7 litres in reserve. Does this mean it's 62 litres including the reserve? Or still just 55 litres total?

I think they mean seven out of the fifty-five litres. I have never gone to the limit but I have had 75 miles out of my tank after the warning light came up and refilled fifty-four and a bit litres if I recall.

My fuel light comes on as soon as the needle hits the first red mark on the fuel gauge. It must give me plenty of warning as I assume there's still a couple of gallons left in the tank when the needle hits the first red mark? Sounds as though it could be 55 litres including the reserve then. I'll soon find out as I have a trip from Blackpool to Folkestone and back again next week.... That's a good 660 mile all round trip! Will probably fill up with V-power or similar for that trip and give the engine a good blast

7L after it hits the red mark at 1/8 full - about 100km of motoring for most people. 

 

The most I've put in my car was 56L but the 55L fuel tank capacity doesn't include the filler neck.

 

After driving for 100km with the MFD telling me to refuel & the fuel needle on E I'm not really game to try for another 100km

Fuel tank capacity is: 55.0 litri (14,46 gallons)but if you do overflowing enter more than 55 l.

14.46 is US Gallons, it is 12.11 of our English Gallons 

When it shows almost empty tank then there's something left. It might be those 7l because my brother once drove almost 80 km (if I remember correctly) with empty tank (computer showed 0 litres left). Maybe he could drive even more but luckily he found a petrol station

Yes Newbie VRS, i found that info on a site, you have right 14.46 it is us gallons, I forgot to mention, thanks for that!
