Reading through various posts the "vag-com" interface seems to control most of the computer settings and funcionality on Skodas. Being a computer consultant by trade and a time served engineer, it wouldn't be too much to construct an interface to connect a laptop to the vag-com interface on the Octavia. All that is needed would be the pinout of the two connectors and I could have full control of my car. Anyone know what the pinouts are? or Anyone already done it?

Suggest you look at the vag-com forum, or the website for the manufacturers of VAG-COM (which, by the way, is a commercial product not connected with the VAG group) at http://www.ross-tech.com. It's not quite as simple as pin-outs, unfortunately.

I believe the new Octavia requires a can-bus interface which renders most of the cheaper cables available on the internet useless. Others will know more than I.

The pin outs should be standard for all ISO OBD equiped cars - thats the idea of it.

What you will need is the circuitry inside, AFAIK it's not a pass through lead.
