Fabia Mk 1, 1.9 sdi reversing light switch

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Am I correct in thinking that the reversing light switch on my Fabia (2002) is on the front of the gearbox?  The one that is fitted, I think, has two wires going to it.  On mine, both disconnected.  One wire is black with two red tracers and the other wire is black with two blue tracers?  Can anyone confirm that these are going to the reversing light switch.

Question on these lines - does the replacement reversing light switch have to be soldered in place? A few people have mentioned soldering.

No soldering required, simply unplug, screw old one out and new one in - you say both wires off, have they rotted out of the plug?. Have you confirmed its the switch, one way is to short the plug out with a paperclip, if you do that and turn the ignition on the reversing light will come on. The soldering may be for the DFM wires- http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/247393-dfm-wiring-aka-alternator-sense-wire-asr-faults-no-battery-light-alternator-not-charging-etc/
