Dash Camera

Featured Replies

I have been given a dash cam by a friend of mine who has just bought a new model. It's a mivue 538 deluxe.

Have been thinking about getting one for a while but didn't fancy the idea of trailing wires so put it off. Need not have worried as the wire easily tucked behind the headlining and only had to gently lever the front of the interior trim of the A post to hide the wire. Then up and across the footwell to the lighter socket. The only bit visible is from the floor to the lighter socket and from the back of the mirror to the bracket. Ended up very neat. Now I have nothing to compare it with but the picture is quite good day or night and picks up number plates with no issues. It also has GPS built in which works with the speed camera database, one thing the Columbus lacks in standard delivery. So all in all a win situation.

If you want to use your 12v socket for other things it's easy to wire it in to the fusebox.

Would be quicker than it took you to fit the camera.

I might well do that. It would be better powering from an ignition fused connection rather than the lighter socket which always has power. Just wanted to see if it worked and was any good.

I've fitted a timer unit that turns off after one hour wired from the battery busbar with a fuse through the grommet that's under the wiper scuttle . fitted this in the glove box and wired the camera from there . I hid the wire between the windscreen and the surround then I took off the end of the dash where it meets the closed door then you can see to push wire into glove box side

What's the purpose of the timer mate?
