S2000 Air Filter

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Fancy a change on my car, not sure if anyone has done it. I've seen it done on a Mk1 VRs but not on a Mk2 diesel. I know I won't gain anything performance wise but for £10 it's worth trying see if I get any noise.

It's a 1.6 tdi if anyone has any experience please give some input.

Thanks

Richard

Just googled s2000 filter watching this one :-) , had an induction kit on my astra cdti made a lovely woosh noise from the turbo when changing gear

That's what I did seen it on the 1.9 engines. It's cheap enough from eurocarparts. Il be flying home Wednesday and then I'm off for a few days. Il do it then and keep you updated, just need some tools from work.

I've been looking at this too, not sure if it's possible on the 1.2tsi engine, does anyone know?

Not sure I'm sorry, only way to check really is measure your MAF sensor and see if the internal diameter of the S2000 filter will fit.

It should fit, as long as you have enough space for it. You might need to use a silicon pipe adaptor if the pipe diameter is off.

I'm not mechanically minded, not sure what the MAF looks like. I put a universal cone filter on once would it have been the MAF that I connected it to? If so, I have adapters from the universal cone. Does anyone have a link to a reputable outlet?

Yes that is what you should have connected it too, I have two links :) gsf and eurocarparts.

http://www.eurocarparts.com/mobile/ecp/c/Honda_S2000_2.0_2006/p/car-parts/car-service-parts/regular-service/air-filter/?50260019J&1&bbd3ffd3db98be8c9b8cabee970580358669c8fc&000008 I use the discount code 'extra5' all I have but its 5% off...

http://m.gsfcarparts.com/122ho0420 Then on this one I use 'club25' 25% off il be getting eurocarparts one when I get back to the UK.

Hope these help.

Shame the plastics cream dont think i could live with it lol, have seen black ones on the web may have to try local motor factors

Thought about universals but the quality is crap normally

Il probably just try the cream and green one never show anyone under the bonnet anyway as its only a diesel :) as long as it works and sounds ok il be happy

Thank you Richard, the code works, brings it down to below £14, then add £10 for standard delivery!! Think I will have it sent to my sister in Oxford as I'm flying down in a fortnight and it's free to her house. Worth a punt for the money. What sound benefit does it give, bit of a sucking noise?

Appreciate the links a lot, thanks.

I'm sure if I mask of the filter I could spray the cream plastic black or even red?

Could possibly spray the plastics if you wanted not sure how it will last though, there is a more expensive filter. It's a blueprint one that's the make and it's a black plastic with red filter elements. The eBay item number is 231501992125.

If you search eBay for s2000 air filter there's loads on there but not sure which ones sorry. Im going for eurocarparts one as its only a 5 minute drive from my house.

In all honesty don't know about noise, should hear some turbo noise hopefully. My brother had a polo Gti the 1.8turbl version and that made a good noise with a air filter.

Thanks Richard, I've had a good read about all this. I'm going to have a look around and see what I can do when I get to Oxford.

Well I should have mine fitted by the time you go, I know it's different engine but should be able to give some insight to how it changes things up. Glad I could help anyway :)

That would be much Appreciated, I did use a universal cone filter for a while which did give a more noticeable sucking sound which I liked. No drone whilst driving.

Willing to say it will probably be the same as that, or maybe abit quieter as the s2000 filter will be a standard paper filter.

Update it does fit, not a tight fit so needs tape or a reduced. Not a huge noise but can hear the boost a lot more. Probably will get bored of it, nice to hear the turbo for abit though.

I got bored of the universal filter, removed it for a service and never put it back on. When you say the fit is not tight, is the diameter of the MAF greater than the filter or the other way round? As I said I have rubber rings that can be used to correct a size difference.

The filter is bigger but not much does stay on but can come off easy, does the same as a universal I bet. I will take it off in a month probably.

I'm sorry, it's off already. Going to get a universal k and n and try that, the s2000 filter is pretty big. I do have a picture :)

Cable ties were to be safe

Not a very nice looking fit to be fair a shorter universal k&n would fit snuggly is the maf supported there or just hanging, im too lazy to go and look at mine lol

  • Author

It's unsupported but the filter is holding it up, it's off now and I've ordered a k and n :) liked the noise for a bit and only paid £10 for the k and n

Tenner for a k&n tidy would look much better even if you dont normally see it too

Why did you take the s2000 filter off?
