1.9pd vs 2.0crd

Featured Replies

For some reason, I thought all the manual 105's were 5 speed, Andy. That is the only reason I asked.

It may be a Skoda thing though? Not sure now.

They are all 5 speed in the Octavia

That's where I got the idea from then Phil, It is just a Skoda thing. Cleared that up for me.

Cheers pal. :)

  • Just remember that the PD130 was never fitted to the MK5 golf.   It was the PD105 that was used so there is a 35bhp difference and not 10.   The 1.9 really is surprising though. Mine is DSG and go

  • Definitely.   I can also get a really good range out of ours. Once did Germany via Dover to York on one tank (over 630 miles driven) with 45 miles left.   So to summarise... if you really must hav

Average the difference in tax over 12 months, then realise it doesn't really matter.

70mph is about 2100rpm in 6th.

70Mph in 6th is bang on 2500rpm, So the 6-speed manual is shorter geared than the DSG configuration.

That's more of a difference than I would have expected. Makes the DSG seem quite long legged, or the manual a bit of a short arse, Lol.

We all seem happy with our own, so maybe not that much of a difference, no? :)

I would say I expected 6th on the manual gearbox to be a bit taller, and 1st is very short but works a treat for creeping at 3mph, feet off the pedals in traffic! :D

End of the day, Manual or DSG is really down to personal preference, I enjoy driving and for me part of the experience of this is changing gear myself.

I also test drove a DSG Touran before I bought this one, And I was very impressed by it.

The old 6 speed gearboxes used in the MK1 Fabia etc were very long. They've shortened the gearing in recent years.

I just find the DSG far more enjoyable to drive than a manual. Also far more relaxing. If I see a gap for overtaking etc I just have to jab the throttle and I'm off. The DSG is capable of shifting gear in 8ms!

Marmite car I suppose isn't it.

Think of the 1.9 with DSG as Tyrone from Snatch

Doesn't look up to much, but can move when it has to. :)
