Polo GTI

Featured Replies

I saw an advert in a local car mag which said VW are doing a polo GTI with the 1.8 20v turbo (150 bhp). Does this have the same tuning capabilities as the Octy Vrs, if it does that will be scary!!!!!

Looked cool in the picture very much like it's stablemate Golf GTI.

Allready been a thread on this with pictures etc.

But yes in thoery tuning wil be the same if not very close. But its not revolutionary, SEAT have had the 1.8T Ibiza out for ages.

But theirs is the 180 and will defo tune like the Octy.

IRC the FR Ibiza has the KO3s Turbo and maps easily to 220bhp, couls be the same story for the Polo.

SEAT offer the 150 bhp and 180 bhp 1.8T engine in the MK4 Ibiza.

The 150bhp block runs the K03 turbo with single side mount intercooler.

AFAIK it can be pushed to around 200bhp just with bolt-ons (remap, intake and exhaust).

That was the Mk3 Ibiza the Mk4 uses KO3s, with vvt. My old Cupra was 210bhp

Sorry, didn't mean to quote the Ibiza bit.

But as far as I know only 180bhp+ versions of the 1.8T use the K03s. The 150bhp engine that will be used on the Polo should therefore have the "worse" turbo.
