Replacement keys for swan neck towbar?

Featured Replies

Our Octavia has come to us with two ignitions keys, but that's all and it seems a key is needed to remove the towball. I wouldn't bother, but when the boot is loaded I've had it ground out a few times on speed humps and going in and out of the driveway. Are replacement keys available? Main dealer only? Is there a key number on the lock somewhere? I don't mind crawling around to find it, but it'd be nice to know if there is one and where to look.

Thanks,

David

The car I bought recently has a plug in tow hook and I investigated this as only one key was supplied. I believe the Skoda fitted unit is made by Westfalia, but in this country most are dealer fitted and these too are usually Westfalia.

Take a look at the top of the boot aperture when the hatch is open and you should have a warning label with the tow bar makers name on it.

Westfalia's own fitting centre in Bristol can help you find the right key. The key number is only on the key. See their website for more details. There is a section about lost keys.

Thanks for the reply. It has prompted me to have a poke around looking for a warning label and I have actually found tucked away in the boot a Skoda owners manual for the tow bar - it turns out it is made by Prof Svar http://www.profsvar.cz/en/index.php

It states "Should you lose your key, contact the nearest Skoda Auto Service Centre or the manufacturer directly". I will try a message to Prof Svar.

Glad you found it.

It does look a bit low when fitted but it may be just the way the photo is taken.

As it is a factory fitted unit you may be able to get the key number from Skoda, perhaps even from your local Skoda garage.
