Lowering a 4x4 HATCH???

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I noticed in a thread a few days ago that H & R do lowering springs for the Octy 4x4 estate and was wondering whether these fit the hatch? If not, what is another decent option?

Apart from the ride height difference, will these maake any difference to the handling of the car and do I need to do antything else at the same time? I would love to go the whole hog and put KW's on, but simply haven't got the finance available.

Cheers

Hello Mr Chris,

Yes, they will.

Sorry, can't help with the rest except to say that the handling *will* be altered ... won't say whether for the better or the worse :)

You need to get a hatch specific kit. The weight at the rear will be different between the estate and hatch so it could end up not sitting right.

I would still strongly consider the option.

I now know of three 4x4 owners (me included) who have gone for springs-only initially and were forced to replace the original dampers after doing somewhere between 50-70k kms. Not wanting to ditch the (rather costly) springs I went for matching Koni yellow shocks to replace the original dampers, but adding up both investments I fell short of KW V1s only by a whisker, with only a small additional step to V2s.

Considering the fact that the Konis aren't rideheight-adjustable and the KWs are, I now wish I had known of the KW option earlier. My mistake to sign on with Briskoda after buying the car...

Is fitting a set of hatch vRS springs an option ? That's what i was hoping would fit ok.

No chance, rear setup is completely different.
