Protecting against corrosion

Featured Replies

Is it good practice to spray some of the engine components with a bit of WD-40 to protect against corrosion? I noticed some of the clips, alternator casing and other fixings were starting to get spots of rust etc

any ideas/suggestions on best way to do this much appreciated

Personally i do spray the clips and connectors. Don't go mad though and don't spray the alternator casing as some will get on the windings - can cause hot spots and premature alternator failure.

ACF-50 is the best anti-corrosion spray I have ever used, keeps my bikes pristine and I use it on bit's and bobs on the car. It's not cheap (in relation to WD40) but it does not wash off and forms a semi permanent protective barrier.

Busters motorcycle accesories have been the cheapest I have found for it
