Another Octy VRS newbie

Featured Replies

Hi all. Previous lurker turned member due to buying my first Skoda.

It's a Octavia VRS CR 2012 and I've bought her with just 20k miles on her.

I spend at least 2.5 hours driving to work and back, so I needed a good milage highway cruncher, that'll be fun on the weekends as well.

I'm generally a car enthusiasts but not brand loyal at all. I've had a Nissan, 2x Citroen, Hyundai and now a Skoda. Was happy with all and fiddled with all as well. Mostly standard stuff such as CAI, exhausts, wheels, tires, suspension etc (always had petrols as well).

I do as much as I can on my own and enjoy every second of it even when things don't go as planned.

No real plans with this one as I've never had a diesel before, but I bet it'll change within 6 months :)

Here are a few pics.

I guess that's it for now.

Hi all. Here's a rare update from me. After doing 30k miles in approx. 12 months I've replaced my Skodilak with a newer, younger and a bit more dynamic version, this time a petrol.

Current plans are changing the wheels to 19" Xtremes or 19 Phoenix Anthracite from mk3 Superb.

I've been considering an Anti roll bar as well, but I'm still not sure if I should rather go for coilovers.

And if all goes well it seems me and the misses will come by on the meet.

Alright, I guess that's all for now, and by the looks of it, I'll post another update in about a year [emoji14]

Nice upgrade, out of interest why did you bin the diesel?

I wanted more power and while the diesel feels punchy it's actually quite a bit slower (torque feels great through).

To put it differently I got bored of it in terms of performance. And I was choosing between remapping or buying a petrol. And after the test drive there was no competition.

I lost 10 mpg but the smiles and giggles are worth it. Also remapping this bad boy gets it to 285 at least, compared to 205 I'd have with the diesel.

I also spend about 3 hours a day in my car, so as long as I can afford to get bored, it becomes harder and harder after a good year or two.
