Fuel Filler Cover Locking Mechanism

Featured Replies

Hi

The fuel filler cover is held locked shut when doors are locked and can only be opened when the doors are unlocked.

Many years ago my Octavia had a similar arrangement but in the event that the fuel filler cover malfunctioned in the locked position the locking mechanism could be accessed from the boot to open it manually.

I have searched the Fabia hand book and so far have not found if it is possible to open the filler cover manually.

Has anyone found a way to operate it manually??

I do not want to find out one day the mechanism has failed and I am unable to refill.

I ask this as I did have a failure of the mechanism on my Octavia.

Good question John, I had not thought about this, I would also like to know what the options are?

This maybe a stupid question, but how do you get in the car if the battery is flat, there are no locks in the doors?

There is a lock, on the driver's side you can peel off a cover. The plastic piece where you place your thumb to lock should come off to reveal a mechanical lock.
