Just bought Yeti - height advice.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My wife is trading her Fabia in tomorrow for a new Yeti 2.0 TDI SE Outdoor (2wd).  I'm trying to suss out whether it will actually fit in our garage with the standard aerial attached.

The garage door way is 6ft high (lowest point) and 8ft wide.  I've done some research and the vehicle height inc. roof rails is 1691mm (5.547 feet).  My question is how high is the aerial from the top of the roof rail ?.  Also, I have an aerial from a Nissan Juke that is slightly shorter (18cm / 180mm) would this do the job ?.  I've tried it on the Fabia and it screws on fine.

Any advice would be great.

Cheers folks !.  :)

My roof rails are 7cm and the aerial is 21cm higher than the roofline.
From floor to tip of aerial mine (Greenline) is 180cm.

Mine clears a standard up and over door. Not sure if it makes a difference but I have Amundsen satnav

1820mm, 5.97'

Wow, that's close !  So if I put the Juke aerial on it should be fine ?

No, do what my father in law did for his employer when she purchased a land rover only to find it would not go into the garage....he channelled out two groves in the concrete about 100mm deep in the floor where it passed under the door.

Treat her to a sectional garage door with electric opener, you'll then get the full height of the door frame.

I fitted one myself about 15 years ago and think it's worth every penny being able to open it as I come up the drive in any weather.

The height of my Yeti 1.2 TSI DSG with a full tank of fuel is 6' 0.5" to the top of the (Bolero) short aerial. That Is with no nobody on board. The detachable part of that aerial is 7.75" long.

Couldn't close my up and over standard door with the Yeti in forwards (not possible without great difficulty to reverse in!). I bit the bullet and installed electrically operated sectional door that sort of folds itself around the rear end and it's brilliant! (Boss fox has the same door so I'm in good company!)

I have a upvc up and over door. It is the better type with runners not the canopy type. The electric door clears the car even if it is parked just inside the garage. I have a marker at the side so that the car is about 3 inches clear of the door when it's down. If I park any close the door just brushes on the aerial but does no damage

I do agree that the sectional doors are better and I would go for this type if I needed new doors now.

I find no radio (or other) problems running without the aerial but just a rubber grommet (to stop water ingress).
