'INFINITY' & beyond.

Featured Replies

'INFINITY is to Nissan what Audi is to Volkswagen'.

Well this is how and article i have been reading in 'Audi Driver' begins.

I have no knowledge or experience of them other than reading the article which is quite informative.

So i just wondered,

?

Has any Briskoda Members got any experience of them, driving one, or friends, family or workmates own

and drive them?

cheers, george

Na, see a ton of them each year the F1 comes to Silverstone, then barely see another for months :D

I remember when infinity made a push to launch themselves as the new Lexus. From what I remember they basically made upmarket Nissans that weighed a lot and had bigger engines and not much seems to have changed. At least when Lexus launched they made a game changer with their incredibly well built effort. I can't see Infinity lasting long sadly, Nissan just haven't read the market right.

matt1chelski, I can understand that,

the article says sales in Britain doubled in 2014 from a low base of 386,

and they sold 18 in the first 2 months of 2015 up from 16 in 2014.

Sold often means First Registered and not Sold,

It will be interesting to see if they are depreciation disasters and a bargain car a couple of years old might be kicking about.

EDIT,

Shed loads of used cars advertised to choose from and lots of car at 'Much Cheapness',

must have a better look at what they are all about.

BTW - it's Infiniti with an i not a y

I don't know y, marketing probably.  :D

Actually, whilst they haven't even dented the UK market, they sell around 50,000 per year in the US, compared to about 150,000 each for Merc & BMW, and 135,00 for Lexus.

So, not massive, but not bad sales figures.

I've only ever seen one on the road, an SUV type car.

They are styled for the american market

Massive for fat americans. With good gas mileage of 12mpg cause it has a 8.2 liter with 300bhp

Petrol and diesels in the UK, 2.0, 2.2, 3.0, 3.5, 3.7 etc,  V6's for less than £15,000 with some interior luxury.

Not seen a 8.2 litre for sale in the UK, but then not looked for one.

Some 5.0 litres petrol & diesel ones advertised. 385 bhp / AWD / Auto.

(i am a massive fat Scottish Person and find some of the massive Prestige German barges a bit of a pinch for comfort

and reliability is also often an issue which is why they can also be a bargain.)

I've seen a few 4x4s and a couple of coupes kicking around.

I notice there is a dealer in Glasgow.

Really not very pretty cars, very blobby and Murican.

I thoughr infinti was just a nissan trading name for the states. Like Acura is Honda? Not so much upmarket versioms, just a different brand name. Cant say ive have any dealings with them though other than lookimg at them while on holidays over there..

Pretty much.

How long is 'not long'? They have been around since 1989.

Cheers,

i am only interested in what is in the UK,

2010 on and if anyone had experienced or knows anyone that has.

Going to check out some automatic ones this weekend and see what you get for your money and what a seller will take below their asking price.

Just looking for a Comfy car, and be it £290 or £500 VED will depend on what is the car that suits.

The company I Work for has a contract with Nissan to deliver their brand new cars around the country..... very few are Infititi.

I considered an Infiniti after looking at them at Geneva last year. Very nice interiors, and pricing isn't too bad for what you get spec wise. You wouldn't know it was a Nissan unless you were in the know.

Dealers are scarce, my 'local' one is Hull.

I'd probably buy one if the dealers were more widespread but it would be used as depreciation is stupid!

Might be worth checking if Mackie Motors can service if you want to avoid AC.

Pretty much.

They haven't been officially over hear anything like that long, not even 10 years I think, but I was referring to their future in the UK in any case. . I thought when 'Infiniti' brought out a diesel SUV a few years ago that it might be something special. Instead it had a run of the mill diesel, seemed to be overweight and uninspiring in most other departments. To break into the UK market they need a loss leader, or something seriously individual, that gets people talking about them. probably good value second hand though?

The G series got good write ups for driving dynamics and build quality, but they looked so boring (at least to my eyes) and failed to connect with the great British public:(

Aspman, cheers but i only use mechanics and never Technicians or Fitters for anything needing doing on my cars,

if i needed a push bike serviced it would not go to either of them.

Just been reading about the new Infiniti Q30. It looks good and shares a lot of the Mercedes A Class (which might or might not, be a good thing?) Best bit though, is it is going to be built here in the UK :)

Infiniti, Acura, Lexus, all upmarket brands here in the US - only Mazda gave up on this with the Xedos cars.

Yanks will believe this re-naming makes them substantially different to Nissan, Honda, Toyota even though the cars are often just tarted up versions of standards like the Camry or Accord.

Mind you in the 60's I probably would have bought a Riley/MG/Wolseley saloon rather than the same Austin/Morris model.

Even in the States Infiniti are ugly (just to make them different I guess).  Their re-badged Nissan SUV is clearly the same vehicle but the front looks like a plastic surgery disaster.

They have got staying power though, the brand launched in the States the same year as Lexus (26 years ago)

I've only ever seen an FX in the flesh, not a bad looking car in my opinion...

lookes like a slightly wider slughtly lomger santa fe imo.. not bad looking but not much uniqueness...

Guy down the road had an fx. Looked alright. But never spoke to him cos hes one of those really quiet people.

Cant help thinking ive been past a dealer too. Maybe stoke way?

Think they did a "Vettle" edition aswell.
