Clutch replacement

Featured Replies

My mate's clutch on his 2007 Octy mk2 is slipping and he is looking on eBay for a replacement as his neighbour can fit it for him. If replacing, is it also recommended to change any other parts? And who is the OE manufacturer of the clutch please?

Thanks in advance

Adam

Most clutches are made by LUK and Vale either of these will be fine. Sachs are aftermarket but get good reviews. Make sure he gets the 3 piece kit. Also what's the DMF like?

Thanks both. Its the pd170 so not the 1.9 and the dmf is hopefully ok (no judder anyway).

I'd second the above about doing the slave cylinder. It's not an expensive part and if it was to fail (like mine did) it's a gearbox job out to replace so may as well do it whilst he's doing the clutch

For the clutch, avoid Techniclutch or whatever they call themselves these days (clutch shop possibly). Google the name and read some of the many shall we say poor reviews.

Just one of many pages.

I'm having my clutch done next week....its a 2005 2.0 TDi and the clutch I've been told that goes with my car is a Sachs....I've decided to replace the dual mass flywheel as well, even though there's no judder, as I can't stand the thought of going to all the trouble of having the clutch done, only to find 6 months later that the DMF is starting to go.
