Ive been having slight problem trying to engage 2nd for the past week.

This morning decided to tackle with help of haynes and youtube to adjust gear cables.

Its turned into a nightmare. Somehow i cant get into 2nd at all. And 1st keeps engaging reverse. Even tho it goes smoothly into reverse anyway.

I have 3rd 4th and 5th. But it will not engage 2nd.like i say 1st is reverse.

Have i turned the adjustment wrong way?

Car is 1.9tdi pd100.

Would try it again tbh, I had a problem when adjusting mine in that the plastic adjuster was stuck on the cable so it needed freeing up with a gentle prise from a screwdriver to make it adjust, after I did this it adjusted fine

Hi. Its fixed.spent half an hr fiddling about. I used some oil to free the whole adjuster. Then just used a drill bit to lock gear stick. Didnt lock the other pin. Its actually smoother than before.

Must admit i did panic.
