Felicia 1.3 virgin eeprom dump

Featured Replies

Hy. My name is sorin i am from romania and curently owning a 1.3 felicia pick-up. First of all sorry for my bad english. I have a problem with the trottle body. After cleaning i couldn'd reset it to factory setings via obd2 with vcds bosh and delphi diagnostic tools. After this i have started reasearching and found about their common problem with the TB. So my problem is simple... I need a virgin dump file from the eeprom in the ecu to replace mine to gain the basic setings. So if anyone is kind to share one with me i would be forever in debt :D

Thank you and sorry for my bad english again

What year is your Felicia manufactured?

What "common problem of the TB" that needs a reflashing are you talking about? Please describe it.

Could you provide the link(s) that discuss that issue and suggest a reflashing as a viable solution? It doesn't matter the language.

That being asked, if I remember correctly, the EEPROM can't be reflashed, unless you're willing to physically desolder the EEPROM from ECU, reprogram a new one, and solder it back. But before jumping to such epic solution, let's see what your answers are.

my felicia is 1999. it hase a simos 2p ecu. i have later edited the post last night but something went wrong.

i have cleaned the throtle body and after cleaning it the idle speed stais at 2500 rpm. i have tried to run a throtle body adaptation through 4 tipes of car diagnostics tools ( bosh kts, gudmann, delphi, vcds) none of it worked. i started researching the problem and found that the simos 2p hase a throtle adaptation bug.

now i saw that the easiest fix is to download the small czech program and buy a fast kkl cable. but for me it does not work. i don't know why. basicaly what that program does is ''virginizing'' the eeprom setings

so like you said i desoldered the eeprom form the main board and upploaded a dump that i have found on the net. for it to work i had to perform immo off.

so my car now runs much better but still my idle speed is at 1200. i know that the ecu is permanently addapting and in time it will fix it self but runing with 1200 rpm at idle it makes it go realy hot.

it is not an epic solution at all. it is quite simple( if i had an virgin dump file) :)). it takes 10 min to get the ecu off, get the eeprom off, put it in xprog, read, whrite. Done

Hopefully somebody will save an EEPROM dump for you, although I wouldn't count on it.

But in your case it is more than that firmware 'bug' (by the way, I am still not convinced about the existence of it because later on the same guy from Greece - adakt - ended up by changing the TB). I see you are very ambitious in solving the problem and in case you have also access to garage tools, here is what I recommend:

Note: don't dismiss immediately any advice below, be methodical and patient

  • test thoroughly for any vacuum leaks (TB base gasket, intake/exhaust manifold gaskets, cracks in rubber hoses, cracks in exhaust system before oxygen sensor) with a smoke machine or with propane gas around suspect areas
  • verify the TB potentiometer for wear, bad spots (using an oscilloscope on long time base is ideal, a digital multimeter reading can be deceiving)
  • check the TB idle contact and also the correct adjustment of throttle cable
  • best test would be to borrow a known working TB, mount it on your car and do a TB reset / adaptation (after solving any vacuum leaks, otherwise you won't feel any difference)

thank's for the tips! i have managed to solve the problem using the motordiag software and a modified kkl cable. now my rpm stais at 800 and the car runs perfect

Well done!

Let's say another Felicia MPI owner will clean the throttle body and will run into a similar problem like you experienced.

Could you explain in detail what he should do? Try to be as specific as possible. Although the vast majority of Felicia owners are not into electronics or mechanics, there are highly skilled automotive technicians that would like to read about your solution in great detail.

so the thing is like this. when you clean the throttle body, removing the waste creates a gap betwen the trothle body and the butterfly valve. when this happens the engine suck's more air in it at idle. that increases the rpm. to corect this problem normally you have to adapt the throttle body. since the simos 2p has a software bug you can't proceed with this method using regular diagnostic tools. i have tried with vcds, vas, gudmann, autocom and delphi. with vcds and autocom i have managed to addapt the TB but when you cut the power to the ecu it loses the values. so basically your car forgets's that the TB is adapted and you start from scratch.

the only thing left for you to do now is to get the ecu ''virginized'' and by that i mean you have to make him learn his basic setings.

there are 2 way of doing that.

1 and the and the simplest is to use a softoware from motordiag.cz that you can find at the software download tab. this little program uses a kkl cable. first i tried using a kkl cable with usb. it didn't work. you need a kkl cable that runs trough serial port. you will have to manualy select the port for the cable in device manager. after this you hit the factory reset buton and you are done. i recomend this metod

2 in case this doesn't work you need to do this manualy but this requer's electronits skills. you have to get the eeprom memory (it is a 93c56) out of the ecu and you have to use a virgin dump. (i will try to upload here my virgin dump with immo off)

in both cases you do not perform a throtle body adaptation!! you just get the car in basic setings!! for your car to run good you have to have all your sensors clean, no vacuum leaks and the TB in good shape with no pottentiometer wear (as you mentioned before ricardo)

the things will go better in around 2000 Km. in this time the ecu ''reads'' the sensors values and adapts itself. at this point the car will run normal.
