2.0 TDi , brake warning symbol on dash ( O ) , scanning with VCDS shows no fault (doubt pads worn as relatively new ). Oddly when scanning the module the cluster shows ESP fault (Clears when scan complete). Any ideas ? I'm thinking the pans are actually worn or a broken wire/dodgey connector ?

Could be the abs wheel sensor, this is linked to the esp and throws up dash lights when it can't get a reading for the control ring on e wheel hub. I jet washed my wheels and he problem went away so must have been jammed up with dirt or rust

Brake pad warning is a simple circuit it doesn't leave any error code in the system.

 

I had the light come on with brand new pads although it went out and never came back.

You can remove the wear sensor without any problems apparently, there will be a guide somewhere else round here.

 

ABS error will be something else. Might have been something as simple as a bit of mud on the reluctor ring.

Have you visually inspected the pads?
