Apr head bolt fitting

Featured Replies

Can you fit apr headbolts one by one like you can do with the pd150s or would you need to take the head off?

Thanks paul

Can't think of a reason why not, as long as the new bolts are being torqued up to the same value as the others

It's just whether I can get the stud screwed all the way down with the head still on

Why is it any different to fitting ARL bolts to a block?

They're the same length right?

So as long as you're not torquing up the new ones to a higher value than whats in there already, I cant see it being an issue.

Sorry I mean the stud and nut kit that dark side sell

mail dark side I just fitted a head stud kit but with reworked head so it had to come off anyway but im sure on their page is states they can be fitted with head on 1 at a time

Yes they can be fitted one at a time :)

I'm sure they can be fitted one at a time, but it's just how hard it is really. Like there's a recess where the bolts sit and clamp down, is there enough room to be able to screw the stud all the way in? If that makes sense, or another question is what bar can 150 bolts handle?

160,000 psi 11031.6 bar

Aha gheez so at 2.2 bar they're fine and will be good for 2.5?

Isn't the stud kit recommended if you plan on having the head on and off regularly?

Can't see much of a bonus over the pd150 head bolts, they go super tight to start with!

Plus they're a higher tensile strength, a tolerance of up to 200,000 psi - but I cant see them being worth it.

It was just I'm probably going to get my turbo hybridd and was speaking to John about a map and he said at 2.5bar I should see 260 ish, not that I really want more power, I'm just worried about walking into problems I.e head lift/warping (again)

I wouldn't bother personally, not unless the price is quite cheap.

I suffered headlift running 2.5 bar wih pd150 headbolts hence the stud kit no problems running 2 bar for 2 yrs

I'm unsure with what to do really, I don't want to up the boost and it lead to problems, I'll probably settle with 2.3 just to be safe I'm currently at 2.2 with no problems

What's Jason got? :D

Stud and nut kits offer way more clamping force than head bolts.
